Sunday, 11 March 2012And all that jazz...Ralph Lauren devoted his collection to the literary classic, “The Great Gatsby.” The runway was dominated by an Easter parade of floral prints and lovely pastel colours. The cloth hats, bias-cut dresses, column gowns, chiffon skirts, flowy trousers and three-piece pinstriped suits epitomized the Ralph Lauren feminine/masculine narrative.
The 1920s were a time of reform, a time of change. Morals were broken, stereotypes were ignored, and the true modern woman emerged. These women known as “flappers” flaunted their free spirits and their fashionable tastes. This spring this period’s unique style are emerging. From Ralph Lauren to Marchesa. And I absolutely LOVE it!
In Ralph Lauren's designs there is a remembrance of the jazz, the dancing, the rights, and the freedom of this past period of history. Can't you just picture yourself in the midst of the flappers as they danced the Charleston or Lindy? (original photograph from Dutch ELLE March 2012) |

| Long overdue update |
[Mar. 9th, 2012|10:07 am] |
Worked on an emagazine cover yesterday, it will be published in April. Will send you the link then! Sunday, 19 February 2012I love love Haider Ackermann's Fall Winter (2011/12) collection! Inspired by Lord Byron with dramatic lushious materials and long flowy robes and tunics.
The collection features beautiful ensembles that layered different elements of black. Watteau-backed jackets and coats swung over satin-collared dressing gowns and hip-slouched pants, or skirts cut in artful spirals. The monochromatic looks were subtly punctuated with single elements of white, building to an all-white outfit, and eventually with elements of amethyst or mallard. Other looks were colored in extraordinary tonal nuances, like layerings of teal green, forest green, kingfisher blue, and deep jade, for example.

Sunday, 5 February 2012The cold weather outside makes me dream of warmer climates, travel, colours and blooming nature. Visits to India, Africa and Japan informed Vionnet’s 2012 resort collection. Color-blocked tunics and dresses in vivid combinations like purple and gold, and orange and white, were reminiscent of 1960s Courrèges as well as of origami and effortless draping. Beautiful!
Wednesday, 1 February 2012Hiya everyone! I am back from my holidays in The Philippines. Need to unpack, do laundry and all such things but I hope to get back to the drawingtable this weekend. So much inspiration and ideas...so hope to post something again soon. Apologies for the lack of updates on this blog. But I am BACK! X Love, ChaCha |

Actrice Evan Rachel Wood looks stunning in this chic flapper-inspired Gucci dress with matching 20's hairstyle.
I love the 20's influences in fashion. With its 2012 Spring/Summer Collection, Gucci unveiled a line that’s a throwback to the roaring 20s with a little modern rock-chic and vintage glamour mixed in. Gucci Creative Director, Frida Giannini, was inspired by the opulence and glamour of the “era of hedonism”. And with all that glittering gold, beading and tassels, the line is pure indulgent luxury.
I recentely watched the remake of Mildred Pierce and Evan Rachel Wood is great in it as the grown-up Veda Pierce. Wood’s Veda blossoms from a precious brat into a full-blown monster, a sly seductress whose ambition and cunning are bottomless. It’s a high-wire performance, pressing up against the boundaries of Greek tragedy and campy excess, but Wood reins it in just enough to retain a sense of Veda’s twisted humanity.Excellent!
Enjoy!
